Usability & Interface design - Loctite Locad Application

Loctite are leaders in the development, manufacture and marketing of adhesives, sealants and other specialty chemicals. They have an extensive database of products with multiple application scenarios. To assist the technical sales team, Loctite developed a windows application, Locad, providing access to a searchable database including general product information, case studies and technical data.

While the system was useful for sales representatives it was difficult to use, looked unprofessional, had poor search performance, was difficult to update and unsuitable for a web-enabled user interface. Frontend were recruited to provide Usability, Design and Development services for a new, improved version of the application including additional features and multi-language capabilities.

Frontend provided full user centred design services including user research, interaction design, visual design, software development, migration of data localisation of content and user testing. The redesigned application was easy to use by both novice and expert users, had an improved look & feel and was developed for easy migration onto the web environment.
