Interface Design - BridgeCo Digital Music Player

BridgeCo (Zurich) are an OEM manufacturer of Digital Music Player chipsets for brands like Philips, Denon, Pioneer and Nokia. In 2007 they began work on JukeBlox, a completely new WiFi platform incorporating internet music services like Pandora and Rhapsody.

The problem with existing products is that they prove difficult to set-up and can be intimidating to use for non-technical users. Frontend designed the visual interface and architecture for JukeBlox from scratch, making sure that it was easy to set-up and intuitive to use. Early design work focused on the user interaction model exploring options for user navigation and information display. We produced detailed information architecture and interaction taskflow for the R+D team.

A range of visual concept designs were designed and tested with target customers. Early concepts were evaluated with user focus groups, and the final design was prototyped and evaluated in one-on-one User Tests. The final design provides a unique and customisable look and feel and a flexible interface layout that can adapt to the needs of each manufacturer. We also designed alternative interfaces enabling network access form different devices including Web browser and Mobile phone (RUI).

JukeBlox was launched at CES ‘08 in Las Vegas.
“The interface is very easy to navigate making for a smooth user experience…I want one”
