Accessibility strategy for IDA Ireland

IDA Ireland logoFrontend work with IDA Ireland to deliver an accessible web content strategy.
Frontend were asked propose a strategy for improving accessibility throughout IDA Ireland's web presence. We suggested a blended approach including evaluation, training and the development of internal procedures to ensure that web accessibility is always a key consideration in any future projects.

A blended approach:

Evaluation

Frontend consultants evaluated the accessibility of the existing web content using a series of automated tools and manual examination of the HTML code. Our experience is that reporting should always be resolution rather than problem focussed. For this reason our report for the IDA concentrated on how the accessibility issues could be fixed.

Training

We think that the best way to make training effective is to make it relevant. For this reason the training sessions concentrated on accessible web design using the IDA Ireland web site as an example.

Guidelines

Frontend drafted IDA-specific guidelines and procedures. These can be used both to clarify the accessibility requirement for web content suppliers and to ensure the ongoing accessibility of content developed in-house.
