Frontend have worked closely with HP on the user interface of their Large Format Printers. It is important that all customer touch-points work in harmony in order to provide a consistent user experience. The front panel of the printer is the primary user interface and provides the user with status reports, configuration options and step-by-step instructions for manual tasks or troubleshooting.

Frontend conducted several iterations of user testing on the interface and designed a modified menu system that facilitated easier navigation through the interface options. As it contains a mix of text and graphic symbols Frontend redesigned the visual layout to improve clarity and to maintain consistency with other parts of the system. Tabs were introduced to strengthen the users awareness of what section of the UI they were in and a new suite of icons was designed for the top-level menu. Individual screen templates were designed to illustrate troubleshooting and maintenance tasks.
